Here’s why: I distinctly remember seeing (some years ago) in one of the magazines (most probably Surfer Mag) a photo of guys riding down the face of a very serious wave with a hawaiian pirogue (what’s the right word? Va’a?). The article accompanying the shot said that one of the guys (well known guys, but I can’t remember the names) actually broke his arm in the following wipe-out.
If any of you remembers that photo, could you please tell me which issue it was in? That would save me from going through the whole collection… Posting the photo would be even better, of course, but any info will be very much appreciated.
Come on, all you Hawaiian guys! I’m sure you know what I’m talking about.
(I just want to show that to a friend who is heavily into this kind of surf riding vehicles…)
…would that be a shot of an outrigger canoe hurtling down the face at some place like “himalayas” or “avalanche” [you hawaiians have some GREAT warning names for your breaks eh …love it !], by any chance ?
That is in my collection somewhere . I was looking at that shot a couple of weeks ago …
