I want to turn my 6'8" thruster in to a wakesurf board. Good Idea???

Hey so I was had the great fourtne to live in Peru for a year and a half and took up surfing while I was there. Like must everyone, I ended up with a couple different boards by the time i left. One of which was a 6'8" thuster with glassed on fins. while it is a nice board, the glassed on fins make it extermely difficult to travel with. Because I live in Colorado and spend countless days on the lake surfing behind the boat these days, instead of dropping another $500 on a wakesurf board,  I was thinking about modifing the board that I already have. I want to cut the tail off at about the 4'8" range and shape a fish swallow type tail? My Question to you all is, Am I looking at more hassel then it is worth to do this? I have been doing some research and it seems like if I was going to re-shape the hole thing that would just be stupid. beacuse I am just doing the tail it might be worth the try. well I would like to know what everone here thinks. thanks for the help.

I'd be concerned with the nose rocker.  A LARGE nose rocker on a wakesurfer is in the 2.5" range. Most are less, with tail rockers in the sub 1" range.  Thicknesses for surf style boards are typically sub 2"'ish.  Sounds like you'll have a bunch of work to get it into shape, and if you've got a 4" nose rocker or 2" tail rocker, my guess is it'll be a slug.

Thanks for the thought surfdad. I well check and see just how much nose rocker the board has. On the other hand it is a rather thin board at just 2 1/8 inch. And I will have almost no tail rocker at all because I will be cutting off almost the last 2ft. My main question is how hard would the glassing process be if I was to cut off the tail and shape it into a fish style tail?

THe Ronix boards we are riding have downrails tip to tail.  Dont know if that is important but it is also different from the average thruster.
