Idea for GreenlightSurfSupply, FoamEZ, et al: Public Service Idea

well this falls along the line of a public service idea of which GreenLightSurfSupply.com has been most

gracious with supplying beginning -intermediate board builders with free resources through their website.

For instance FoamEZ could sell these for making your own.

How about pdf files of  double sided template panels.

Ones that are categorized for longboard vs. shortboard vs fish, et al.

Then it would be easy for someone to print, tape together a pattern to cut their own double sided templates

and build a collection without a need to be entrenched within the professional community to gather these.

Stay tuned

Hey Otis,

You want spin templates? No problem. They’re on the ‘to do’ list -
towards the bottom! haha. We have made several custom masonite templates
for our customers at their request. Just let us know if you need
anything.

Are you a bitter old man or a happy camper?

I like Tacos. I like to buy Tacos all up and down the coast. They taste the same but different. Just like a surfboard. Some people like a lot of Salsa...some don't.

Thanks for all the on topic replies.

Stringray–No I dont want to arm wrestle you.

Hey Otis!

We do have templates that we have personally made for
customers at their request and have a large range of them for use in our
shaping bay. However we always recommend making it yourself, it’s part
of the experience, the sense of ownership that comes with templating
and shaping a board with your own hands is something unique. Shoot us an email and we would be happy
to help you make one of your own or make one for you! Your idea is good,
we have people ask all the time and will probably offer them on our
website eventually so stay tuned or give us a ring.

My only problem with DIY on this one is that I dont have a band saw and limited abilites with a jig saw.

OTOH, I’d like to get my hands on some templates that are widely used, tried and true, instead of winging it.

Thanks

I'm also of the opinion that making your own template is an important part of the process. It teaches you how do fair lines in 2D before you move to 3D in foam. Practice will make you better with your jigsaw. There's been discussion about fairing/trueing (after jigsaw cut) on here, but I'd bet we could do it again...

It's a good skill to learn!
