Well it took a little while but I finally got Igor of Igor Customs to come in and Pin my new Blunt Nose. I thought everyone might want to see the pics. My board theme, since its going to be heavy and slow, was going to be a lowrider. The bottom already has old school hot rod “scallops” on it with pigment by Austin and I wanted Igor to continue the lowrider theme by adding something around the leash plug (key hole) , something around the logo, and something on the “hood”. I also wanted “Our Lady of Guadalupe” or the Virgin Mary on the "Dash. Let me know what you think. I have already ordered board shorts with the little felt balls around them (insert joke here). I still have to add the lap pins myself. I will post final pics at the end of this week after it has been glossed and polished.

You can see the sketch of the Virgin Mary in the lower left hand corner. You also can see the only two pieces of tape Igor used the whole time. He is pretty amazing.
Color choice was all by Igor. You have to trust your craftsman.
While the first layer on the nose dried Igor worked on the tail.

As soon as its finished I will post full length pics. It does have a pulled in tail reminiscent of the 60’s Ferndocker. It has this basic outline but with the last 1/3 of the tail pulled in.

Here is another board built pinlined by Igor. The board was built for Igor himself. Austin built a special clear resin tailblock that contained Igor’s work out favorite pinlining brush. Definitely one of a kind.
I have a quick question about the oil based paint. I was going to pinstripe my latest creation, all be it on top of the gloss coat, until I saw this. Was there any problems when applying the gloss resin over the One Shot paint? Was a keying of the stripe work all that was necessary to be able to gloss over the top??
Nice work on all; the board shape, the color and the pins.
The Ferndocker. I’m surprised anyone remembers that shape. It took all of the rack appeal “elements” and blended them all into one board. Somebody has to have a pic of one of the original Ferndockers. Please post.
That is amazing. The image I see, other than the picture of the Virgen, probably should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Mary. But, that’s the other thing I always think about besides surfing. Mike
I’m amazed at the artistic skill required to do those kind of pinlines. I look at them and think, “There’s no way someone could do that freehand.” But there it is. Mind boggling.
And Troy, I always admire the creative thinking in your color jobs. Those resin tailblocks are real eyecatchers. The paint brush in the resin is classic!
I can’t imagine having the skil or steady hand to lay down those brush strokes. You guys continue to push the limits of creativity and inspire many here to do the same. Thanks for sharing the photos. When you getting your new shop and where is it going to be located??
