suffice it to say, I am not sending any photos or articles to ‘Waves’ again. They ignored the article I wrote to go with it [except the number of stitches, and the time and day it happened], and wrote some B.S. …the opening word was …yep… ‘hermaphrodite’… (I’ll leave what they followed THAT with unprinted, thanks !)
send your story to those guys that make those rubber fins,proteck…i think,youll be in a magazine for shure…that would really be funny…(not that your injury is funny, close call)

that looks terrifying - were you surfing in boardshorts? - Maybe there’s a hole in the market for gonad protection - something like superman’s briefs but made out of reinforced kevlar - to be worn outside wetsuit/shorts – yes I can see it catching on…can I sell one to you?

Speaking of injuries, I went arse over head into the rocks at North Avalon today, Now im left with a sore tailbone, waves were o.k though and Matt Bemrose (Volcom) was out too.

Actually, silvery, you’re probably about 2 years too late in my case, …but if it saves someone elses bacon / slashbag, could be a new career silverback… maybe you could market them as ‘SILVERBAGS PROTECTION’ co. ltd., or something ?
No boardies…it was a 2 degree c morning…54 degrees fahrenheit…I was wearing a 3mm steamer at the time. Didn’t feel much , or really know what I’d done till I stood under a hot shower, looked down …and noticed my left foot covered in blood. Took off my wetsuit …and just about threw up when I saw the damage.
As it happened at 7 0’clock on a sunday morning , I wrapped two clean t-shirts around it, and waited three hours for the doctors surgery to open. Then, it REALLLLY started hurting, I can tell you.

Yup, and one time I came up with a hole in my scalp through which I could feel my skull. Drove to the hospital.
Now I do NOT make boards with sharp noses, or fins either. Have evidence for the latter on the back of my right shoulder.
Could have been much worse either way. Sometimes we get a light touch on the shoulder from THE MAN (however you may characterize the higher power) to remind us of our mortality.
