In a pinch: mixing acetone and sanding resin

I want to mix some acetone with sanding resin to thin the resin out a bit

and have it flow better.

Anything wrong with that idea as a ‘in a pinch’ alternative to the easy flow of a glossing resin.

Surfacing agent has styrene and wax…why not up that amount? If you don’t want to do that, warm the resin so the viscosity flows better.

Acetone has such a low (high evaporation rate) boiling point and is a solvent, I’ve probably done acetone in a pinch back when with no memory of problems, but I think the other approaches are better. First the warming method then he SA method…or warming with less SA…should give you some results. Or if you have straight styrene for thinner, that would be preferable to acetone.
