In Honor of Kokua (mike "wilddog" williams)

Roland Cazimero passed away last night, but this clip I got from a dvd I have made me think of kokua and why we loved him so here.

So true. Aloha is not something exclusive to Hawaiian people, and a lot of Hawaiian people don’t have any aloha. Mike had so much Aloha.
Nana Veary’s family was from the east end of our home town, the Pu’uloa side of Ewa Beach. Our family had beach shacks on the west end called Oneula.
Our shacks by the coconut trees. No longer there, but a magical place we’ll always remember. The houses at Shark Country 1940-2004. Some were torn down around 1990 when the leased land was sold to a developer.

Thanks for posting this, Oneula. Mike

Thanks for posting. I used to go Eva in the 60’s with Jim Phillips… Jim and Kokua were always super helpful around this place. RIP Mike

I check the archives often and when a Kokua response appears, it’s bittersweet.

I had a nice long chat with Kokua when he was on Oahu in the hospital for his cancer. We talked about his days with Plastic Fantastic. he gave me a good history of surfboard building during the 60’s and 70’s. He even shared a few of his glassing tricks. He was visited by several friends when I was there. He gave us a lot and helped make this site great.

I have this one saved on my desktop, the last sentence used to be my forum signature.
