I had the chance to check out one of Steve Boehenes “downwind” SUP’s today. I was down at the harbor in Dana Point, trading laps with my girl before she had to go to school, and saw a guy get out of the water with this
It had a very distinct “hulled” nose that rolled into a flat bottom and appeared to have a very smooth glide.
I had ran into Steve will paddle surfing at SanO one day and got to rap with him for a little bit. He has some very interesting takes in the SUP movement, and even more interesting ideas on paddle design. Im not to sure I agree with some of the designs, but Im gonna play around with blade shapes and see. Check out his site at
