Info on old Wave Tools

I just picked up this 7'10" on craigslist. Last time I posted an old craigslist find on here the guy that did the spray showed up with details which was really cool. Just curious if any of you might have any details on this one. Thanks in advance. Stringer numbers : 548221 7-10/21

Board was made in 82 and shaped by Lance or me.  Mungall made the glass-ons and did a great job at it back then, and the back are free-style adjustables, as can be seen.  Looks like something Lance shaped for himself for Newport Point though. You can decipher the date and the number of the board shaped that day, its written above the Clark foam logo (May 4, 1982). Dan Taylor put the fins on, and Rick Wheeler sanded it.  The place is now Pure Glass, but back then Wave Tools ruled, and was the biggest surfboard manufacturer in the world. I can still here his voice, and yeah I have stories.  I learned tons of production tips from Lance and Steve Walden back then.  Looks like a LC paint too, though Bucky Olsen painted most of them.  Richie was still a grom, but ripped.  I owe a tons to Lance and those guys.

Nice board.  I'm a fan.  Love the outline.

That has to be one of the best thngs about this place.  Someone can put up a pic of a board made 30 years ago and  a couple of hours later someone will chime in to say they shaped it or they know who did. The depth of knowledge  here is amazing.

Cool looking board to.

I'm once again amazed. Thanks a ton ghettorat. Its so cool to hear something about these old boards by the actual people that built them. It really makes owning it that much better to me. Now I just need to get busy with some ding repair, sanding and polishing.

Are the glassed on fins part foam or are they fiberglass all the way through?

Greg Mungall made some great fins back then.  Clark foam made sheet foam back then.  His color transistion was better than everyone else's because of some proprietary techniques he developed, that he would be upset about if I mentioned how.  The other great foam fiberglass fin maker at the time was Lance Erickson who did the stuff for Stussy, Timpone and Russell.

I'd love to hear a story.
