I’ve only used the lighter stuff and it is not totally clear. I guess 4 oz would be opaque. BTW 4 oz seems a little too much for satisfactory board building.
Unfortunately I could only get the 4oz…can you please send a photo of the 2oz on foam? I like to see how much difference between the 4oz and the 2oz
It doesn’t turn clear. One of its nicknames is “white carbon” because of its look.
the only problem I now have is the painting. I hate white boring surfboards and im usually painting on the foam but now the innegra wont let me do it so im searching for a soultion. I tought to paint after hotcoat before glossing with acrlyic, will the bond be good ? im talking about half board painting.
Be sure and test it but I’ve had good luck with auto acrylic clear over color over a good fill/hot coat. If you are taping the color, be sure and guard against color running under the tape via sanding scratches. You can do this by sanding with say 400 grit or better just spray clear along the tape line to seal the tape edge.
But do test first. I’ve used Design Master spray paint from Michaels with success. Good luck.
All the best
A couple of my boards have automotive paint picture sprays over epoxy with clear acrylic to protect the paint. The spray job seems to be holding up. More worried about scratching the job than it peeling off.
Also, Don’t try tinting/pigmenting your resin. My first innegra board was supposed to be Fire Engine red. Came out Fire Engine Pink.
I think you have to embrace the Innegra look and market it the same way vector net is sold as cool looking.
I like the industrial look. But for high performance applications I don’t think the weight is worth it. I favor using it on designs that can use a little glide.
its for kiting, I belive the glass scheudle will look somothing like that:
EPS stringer less 1.8LB
bottom: 4oz innegra+4ozE
Deck: 4oz innegra+6OZ S
should be light and strong, altough I would use 2oz E for the bottom but we dont have this in Israel
Dwight is right. You have to embrace the look. I had a couple done with Innegra tail patches recently. Because it is white; most people don’t even notice it at first glance. It’s a ghost. Lowel
Also; I noticed in the initial post that the 4 oz. Innegra was referred to as “S”. An immediate flag went up on that one. S-cloth is visible even if not white. Four ounce being the least visible.
Lost puts an inegra vector net kinda thing on the tails of his stock boards.
Or at least the guys making his boards, in australia do.
I think its just part of the “vibe”. (aussie joke to do with the movie “the castle”)
Yeah whatevah you say.
what was that for?
I was told by one of the glassr’s doing the Demos at the Board Show; best results happen when the net is installed in the direction it comes off the roll. I believe that is usually with the Diamond pattern of the strands running linear. If that is the case; the across the deck pattern on the board in my previous pic would be incorrect or at least less correct. Lowel
