installing gore-tex vent plug

the forum discussions on gore-tex vent plug installation instructs you to boring or routering out a 1 1/4" hole then applying adhesive to the lip (flange) on the top of plug which is about 1/16" lip, then drop it in with the only adhesive contact point being the lip and deck of the board...................isn't that risky to failure with that bead only under flange should a pressure happen on deck right next to vent plug?,,,,,,,,,................or is it sufficient like forum article?...................My take is to lay a layer of cloth in the plug hole to create a thermal barrier......then drop in plug with thickened epoxy just like you would do a leash plug.............finally bore the bottom of plug through barrier and just barely into eps foam................please provide feedback......thx

Yep, your method will work, just don't forget to drill out for the vent. I wouldn't use it with a flange, just a straight insert much like a leash plug. Pete C makes one like that too. Best thing about his plugs is you can install them and leave it and it will be venting.
