Have an old one in the corner collecting who knows what; is it worth much? Early shortboard, single, rounded flipped nose, rounded pinn tucked, you know the one?
We'll need pics if you can, please?
Dick went down the path of flipped noses, and near negative tail rocker, for a while. They rode like shit. I can't imagine they would be worth much. They are, however, good examples of a design path you should NOT go down.
Def. a piece of progressions history, perhaps a slide would reveil more, but I do doubt it. Pics not available at the momment just looking for ballpark fig.. thanx guys, surf more often!
I could not agree with you more… I saw Reno’s “Hyperkick aka Disc” when I was a guest of Sr.Carlos Dogny at Club Waikiki in Miraflores Peru. I interviewed him for "Surfer Magazine in 1979. The custom was for stateside competitors to leave their boards to the club after competing in their World Championships. They had racks of famous surfers’ boards underneath the club that members could check out and ride the sandy beach break across the street from the club.
They were all kept repaired and in meticulous condition. I was in awe at their mother lode of surfing history down there.
But back to the point… yes, a total design misstep… I remember leaning too far forward on a wave with one of those boards and it was like throwing the breaks on big time!
