is 4" of nose rocker for a short board for H.B. waves ok?

shaping a guy a board,  its 6’4 x 20.5 x 2.5.  its almost done and the nose rocker is 4". now that im looking at a board that is almost done, im wondering if i should have gone for more nose rocker.  its for huntington beach, where the waves can be pretty soft.   what do you think,   thanks

Four inches is fine.   Don't fret.

Four inches is alright as BT mentions, but only good in relationship to the overall rocker measurements.

Trust me.    You can ''take that to the bank'', as the saying goes.  I've done 6' 8'' boards with 4 inch nose, and 1.5 inch tail rockers, that garnered rave reviews from the riders.    Reefs, and beaches in SoCal.    HB will offer no challenge.    However..............poor fin placement, too much toe-in, lack of rider skill, can ALL color the final performance.

God Morning Mr. T., Have you ever thought about writing a book? Not just another surf story book (although that might be interesting) but on all your surfing/shaping knowledge. A chronicle perhaps of all the critical info on design and their incumbent functions. Not a “how to” but a book more on what and how features work or don’t. I know I’d buy it and read it. Could be the definitive reference on surf design.

Tblank,

Thank you for the kind compliment.     I've been asked about that before.     I'm too lazy to write a book, that's why I do the periodic surfboard design roundtable/discussions.    I've thought about doing another one soon.   Perhaps focus on guns and fins.   Both topics seem to generate quite a bit of discussion here on Sway's.

Where’s the sign up sheet?  I want to go!

Just recognition where it is due, B.T. Count me in.
