Saw a JC w/ WHAT APPEARED to be a stringer…looked real enough…was it fake ?

Boardworks is using stringers, not sure about surftech.
If they were, you wouldn’t see it. It would have to be under the HD foam skin. It was prolly painted on, they do that alot. I remember an article where Randy F. talks about painting on stringers.

Probably not a stringer. The JC Surftechs have 'em painted on. At least the ones that I’ve seen.

That’s what puzzled me…looked passing…at least the one I saw.
Knowing the Tuflite’s construction I was figuring it was paint or possibly wood/skin tape.
The mock Stringer even left a signature in the surface of the finish…much like a real stringer would.(no pun intended)…not a elevated one but recessed .
Even had a haze to it, like a VERY, light , opague , white glass job…Clearcoat… I’m sure.
Anywho…just curious,Thanks for the responses.

I had a snapped one lying around for a while. Definately no stringer in it. Herb, was it one of the new generation boards that are glassed to make them look like a regular PU/PE board? They may have stringers. Iv’e been lucky enough not to see one of those yet.platty.
I had a Jc Stingray and it was only painted. I repaired it 2 times and under the pvc it’s only EPs. The stringer in sandwich construction has not function.
