I’m looking for ideas for my third board. It’s to complement my 6’7" X 19 1/2 X 2 7/16 80s style shortboard. I’m almost 44 (160lb) and I want it for mushy sectioning 2/3 ft beach breaks a bit like the US east coast(see Cork Surf gallery). I want something which will catch waves easily & out run sections but still small enough go up and down the face and cutback without stalling. Its replacing a 7’4" hybrid.
I was thinking about a 6’ pavel style twin fish but then I seen that 5’8" stubbie bonzer recently added to resources and I know Bonzers need a bit of power but was thinking with flatter rocker the bonzer might work well on those types of waves. But I am thinking that the bonzer concaves and fin placement would be beyond me even with the redx setup.
So 2 questions
Which board in terms of performance on mush burgers fish or stubbie bonzer.
If you mess up a bonzer will it work at least as good as a thruster or will it be a complete dog.
(My other option is a stubbie with flat nose rocker 6’2 ,flat bottom to V at the fin with kicked tail, hard rails and a single fin)
