Is this one of Jim's ?

I just found this board, Is it one of Jims

Kingjacko,

I think so, looks like early to mid 70’s. Probably made in Florida. I’m sure Jim will be checking in and will confirm or deny.

Gee, kinda retro wouldn’t you think, circa 1970-71 from my factory in Appanoug, Rhode Island

would that be volan , and 50/50 rails , Jim ? [hard to tell from these shots … have you got a rocker [side-on] shot please , Kingjacko ?]

I love how far forward the early legrope plugs were !! [I guess you rode these from around the middle of the board , front foot near the nose, Shaun Tomson tuberiding stance , eh ?]

How long and wide would this board be ?

And what fin , you reckon ?

It would be “interesting” to ride that board …

ben

It is an all downrailer, the leash plug was added later, by SOMEONE who must have ridden it in the middle. I think that volan was the glass of the day, silene was available, but freelapping wasn’t in vogue. During this time, I was the largest mfg. on the east coast, Cleanlines would come for the summer and growl away in the foam dust with me, Tommy Hogan from R.I. was apprenticing too and would skin blanks, plus outline them. One day I came in and there was a blank, skinned top and bottom, outlined and de-twisted & de-bumped. Tommy had been watching carefully,. He later became the union cabinetmakers journeyman apprentice of the year. Now he still shapes his own Warmwinds lable in R.I. and is the co-owner of Warmwinds Surf Shop with his wife, the former Sue Hogan, east coast champion. The tradition carries on, passed on to the faithful
