Well, I finished my skimboard. After a multitude of problems, I decided that enough glue can fix anything. That is why this thing weighs alot, but it’s darn strong. I put three layers of glass on top, with a carbon fiber deck patch where your back foot goes. I didn’t really hot coat it, I just did what you would call a cheater coat basically, once everything was cured I spread some more on to make sure there weren’t any dry spots. I figure between that and the three layers of glass, plus all the glue the board got on it when fixing the laps, it’d be an act of god if this thing leaked through there. I sanded through one spot on the rail, but I shoved some epoxy in there and taped it up, it will be good enough. I’ll smear so much wax on the top of the thing that you won’t be able to tell it’s ugly! I did hot coat the bottom, and then sanded to 400 grit, smooth enough for my first board. I got the rails pretty much even, there are some uneven spots on the bottom from filling in holes and such (Surform couldn’t get it completely flat, I might hit it with the vixen file from school when I get back from my trip), but it’s good enough to try out. I won’t bother posting pics, it’s pretty ugly, but she’ll float! Wish me luck on my maiden voyage (Tomorrow!)
Well, I decided to put some paint on the top of the board. I sprayed on some black and red and then clear over the whole thing, it looks better now. It’s still a little lumpy looking, but from a distance it should look normal.
take some photos of it …
from a distance even …
the uglier the better !
[just so it can compete with MY first ever homemmade abomination , if nothing else !]
cheers

I’ll post pics on monday, we’re leaving for the weekend right now. Actually, I added some final glue to some holes in one of the rails 10 min ago, taped it all up and it’s going to dry in the car on the way lol.
Okay, I’ll post a pic in a few hours. The good news is: It works great! Everyone who tried it thought it was awesome, and they usually ride victoria skimboards.
