Some men pay for it......some men have the MoJo.........are you a real man???
not welcome where I surf......not welcome if you surf.....motor boats need to stay out of the "surf zone"......
No threat to swimmers at 40 mph. For sure, everybody will lay down several grand.
That fresh air, quiet connection and meditative experience with Mother Ocean…
Mr Marsh , it was just an observation , do we have trolls ? lol
Ok no worries, well lets talk about Jet Powered Sup’s in surf line ups, that should set things in an interesting direction haha!!
OK Mr Marsh I will bite , IF YOU reached geezerdom , that would be the stage somewhere beyond an old fart , and you being a life long surfer still had the stoke to surf BUT your arthritic or just fucked up old shoulders wont let you paddle outside and along came a guy with a wavejet surfboard that moves at 4 mph and enabled you to join your buddys in the line up catch waves and surf your brains out . Would YOU , resist , not wanting to join the 21st century ,( that is not intended as a putdown to you but as an observation of many who are a step behind and refuse to catch up ) ( that should start something ) say oh no , I will just sit on the beach and watch my buddys having fun ? Or would YOU say , fuck that , gimme that thing ? A simple yes or no will sufice . Do you think the trolls wil bite ?
Mr Marsh just to state my position , I have reached geezerdom I do have fucked up shoulders but I can still paddle out , just , but if a wave jet did not cost $4000 I would own one .
The dude with the coke bottle SUP is getting layed by the little hottie............ !!!!!!!!
The dude with the motorized surfboard payed 6 models to pose with him and his receding hair line...no sex.
gbzausa ???? do you have the MoJo or do you pay the models???
or maybe you just dream about it...in a dark private room. 2000 miles inland. covered in snow and ice
Ok it could have merits there but you might want to stick to flat water because you would be a serious danger in the line up and might drown if you fell off.
Does the board keep on going if you lose your board? Drag you along with your cord? That would be hilarious or frightening depending on the circumstances.
NO.
A part of aging unfortunately is giving up things that young men do. it’s a part of all sports and life in general - people have to stop them because their bodies cannot cope any longer, dont see many 80 year old football players do you? If your shoulders are too wrecked to paddle, then how are you going to swim if you loose your cowardjet? A more respectful way to remain in the lineup would probably be to get a set of fins and a paipo or bodyboard - an old local around here rode a booger into his 90s to maintain the stoke. Everyone in the lineup used to hoot him and give him lots of waves - I’d imagine the opposite if he were buzzing around on some jet powered device.
Mr Marsh and Mr Rooster with regards to the wave jet There would be no more risk of drowning than using any other board , I believe from what I have read that the motor is used only to get outside , and there is a remote control on your wrist , hope that helps you understand the near future , ( that is just my little dig because I believe some kind of propelled surfboards are in everyone that comes after the present generation s future ) I am old enough to remember that most surfers naysaid just about every step of progress that has come down the pike and are still doing so , but these are the good old days enjoy yourselves maybe you will never have to endure propelled surfboards if that is your position .
To address the Jet surf surfboard machine I remember the original old steel version with a round hatch on the deck , then we had jet ski s , then another version of a jet ski type surfboard , and now we are being offered yet another version that the maker claims only weighs in at 29lb that in itself a huge step to reduce the weight that much , and according to the ad they are flying off the shelf . IF that is true it will spark more inovation and more people will join in , again IMO there will be propelled surfboards in our future , maybe they will not use gas engines mayby they will be none polluting maybe the hulls will be soft or deforming some way . I am in no way endorsing powered surfboards , its just that in my opinion that its inevitable . Maybe it would be a positive step , look at all the outside sections that you cant get to now , maybe it will encourage people to get out of the crowded line up and try there luck on the out side , it was just a short time ago there was uproar about tow in surfing on the northshore , everything changes , like it or not . My opinion is just that , just my opinion , others may doubt my view of the surfing future , and even if I am correct no one would be forced to join in , no one forced folks to ride a horse when they can walk , no one forced folks to drive a car when they can ride a horse . Much aloha T
Out of curiosity, have you ever seen a wave jet in the lineup ? I haven’t seen one yet…
Mr Swanny No I have not sees a wave jet in any line up , I suspect that would be due to the price , but wave jet did have a open house sort of thing recently on the north shore and folks got to try them out I have not personally heard any positive or negative reports but would be interested if anyone out there has first hand experience . I will be returning to Ca soon and I will stop by Waldens place in Ventura , maybe get a demo . much aloha T
Blame Laird. He had a motorized surfboard back in the 80's or early 90's.
No stoke on this thread...maybe gbzausa should go to Russia....that's where most of the motorboards have been sold....
They have great deals on Zorbs right now......
http://rt.com/news/zorbing-russia-caucasus-video-590/
Zorb down a snow covered mountian in the morning....surf a motorboard in the afternoon....while your best friend is no longer with us............
I noted this significant line in the news report…
Yup. Its the light-mindedness that’s the problem - no wonder they didn’t recognize the gravity of the situation!
BTW, you can’t blame it all on Laird. I think this gal may have something to do with spreading the idea of a motorized surfboard. Are those battery packs in her implants?..
After all was said and done

Praise be to the

Surfing is no longer a fantastic

oh yeah it wasn’t any good yet

What surfing isn’t ; done with a remote,
done with an engine, done with a handle,
IF the errosin of surfing as known for centuries
is erroded by broad application of crossover tech
is to continue then it is obvious that the new age is ushered
in by the required study must be exploitation film templates like surf nazis must die.
The endless summer , surfing hollow days ,and all enlightenment
must be supressed in favor of entitled elitism.
Dont paddle out if you can’t swim back.
broken down wave ski in the line up
is a 20,000$ liability.Get A Harley
and ride it in a neighboorhood
park sand box?
I think not.
Surfing for surfers
who swim well.
Cortes Bank is even too close.

pathologicly oblivious.
Flippy Hoffman was more core than most of us. Me included.
When his arms and legs lost the ability to put him into waves, his desires to surf didn’t diminish. He needed a walker or wheelchair to get around, but that didn’t stop him from wanting to enjoy the surf.
Several years ago I modified one of Flippy’s boards by adding a ducted fan electric motor in place of his fin. The momentary on switch was activated by pressing his chin against the deck of his board. The motor would allow him to position himself and catch waves. Once he was in, he’d let off the motor and ride the wave on his belly.
When I delivered the board, Flippy was so excited he had to try it on the spot. I helped him to the edge of the water, at which point he started dragging himself through the shorepound to get to where he could mount the board. Seeing how stoked he was to finally get a chance to surf again was inspiring. The motor propelled him about as fast as I could paddle along side him.
I’m not sure I’ve ever seen anyone so surf stoked. Regardless of the fact he’s probably paddled himself into more waves on his own than I have - even after nearly 50 years of surfing - he was like a grom again. He was able to experience surfing, on his own board, without relying on others pushing him in.

I’m sure Jesse Billauer is feeling a similar stoke with his new Wave Jet.
In Flippy’s case, he used his motorized board in his backyard or in Baja where the only other people out were friends and family. In Jesse’s case, other than not having use of his legs, he’s a strong, healthy, expert surfer.
It’s a little different using assisted boards in a crowded lineup if you’re physically fully functioning. Then you’re just being a kook.
