, JOHN “JB” August 19, 1947 to November 16, 2012 John “JB” Belchez was
born on August 19, 1947. On November 16, 2012, JB lost his three year
battle with brain cancer. JB was a multifaceted individual that crammed
more into his lifetime than a normal person could ever dream of doing.
His love of adventure took him all over the world, but in the end, he
always came back to Hawaii and San Diego. Sailing, surfing and horses
were his main passions. Over the years, the magnitude of his kindness,
generosity, joy, and energy was experienced by many. His multitude of
friends came from all walks of life. JB will be sorely missed and will
not be forgotten. A bright spirit has left this world to begin another
adventure. JB is survived by his wife Jessie, his father Jack, and his
sister Helen. A Celebration of Life Service for JB will be held at
Windansea Beach in La Jolla on December 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. There will be
a memorial paddle out following the service.

     Aloha rainyday, I met John my first morning in Hawaii when he was living at SunSet Point. We got togther quite a few times because there are a lot of his friends on Kauai. I was was surfing with Barr one day when the Sea Ferry (70's) came flying into the hanalei bay and it was John at the helm and then he called us about an hr later and we all got a good laugh. John was everything you said plus more and I really got a kick out of getting together with him and talking story, he was a great guy and a great surfer. Aloha,Kokua
