John Carper equalizer

Recently picked up a 6’ 10" Tuflite (Surftech) equalizer by John Carper.  It came with some plastic fins, not the best looking, but I can’t see why they wouldn’t be perfectly adequate.

Single concave down the middle.  Anyone ride one of these?

i don't know if he'd do it.

not sure if ken really has the time(or wants to help).

i'll pm you my cell..........we'll get something going.

oh ya, it's worth the trade from your end.

most would say i was crazy from my end.

i got 2 more 8-5 gun blanks.

i'll just build another.

the thread in question is ," a tails of new beginings>>>>>spitzerboattail......etc,etc,

i think this is about all the energy i'm going to put into this one.

and if you don't want to trade ..........that's okay............maybe i'll just send it to rooster.........he's got the waves for the board ,up his way, anyway.

Hey Herb - happy to make the trade.

I just thought it would be nice to have some idea of what I'm getting.  =)    That's OK, surprise me.

I searched for the thread using the wording you gave, but this is the only thread that came up.

Anyway, I'll take the trade, why don't you ask Ken when he's passing through Bako again, maybe he can facilitate the transaction.  I'll be in Burbank and Pacific Palisades next week, also, if that helps.  - Huck

Huck,

My advice is MAKE THE TRADE!  A surftech for a Spitzer?  Are you kidding me?  Do it.  mike

oooh, ...photos?

huck,

i have an 8-2 semi-gun round pin w/ a sunburst airbrushed deck and rails ,build by me , that's right up your alley !

poly/poly , 8-5 clark......shaped in like the summer of 09.

glassed with a double and 3/4, 6oz deck ........single 6oz bottom with lots of reinforcement patches...........this is a personnal board.........all work done by me.

standard fcs boxes ,but with the clear, tinted ,polycarb, plug/boxes """""no longer available"""""(tough as hell boxes for fcs, much stronger than the old black ones or newer gray jobs) .

NO DINGS w/ the exception of some heelies..........i have rode this stick in triple over head + and as small as two foot.

it's also supercharged.

interested ?

can you hear it ??????????

the dice are rolling !!!!!!!!!!!!!

herb

huck, wanna sell/trade it ? been looking for one of those for awhile.

just don't want to pay retail.

nice find !

herb

Herb - pm me...with an offer I can't refuse, lol.
...The surftech version would be even easier to paddle but I don't think it would ride as good though.
That's a trade-off that I would willingly make, in the interest of wave count.

The 6’6 poly Equalizer was easy for this 210 pound old fart to surf.  The surftech version would be even easier to paddle but I don’t think it would ride as good though.

The 6’8 surftech Mel-machine is a much more challenging board to ride than the Equalizer.  Lot less foam almost like a step up.  Its a good fit for me in waves that are well overhead and hollow.  Great travel board.  I haven’t ridden it since I hurt my rotator cuff a year ago.

The painted-on stringers are funny as hell.

Yes they are.

That’s why I thought it might work for me, hahaha.  Its not their biggest - they make a 7’ 5" also, which I would probably like even more.  But like I say, in the right waves, I might like this board.

The Peter Mel square tail looks similar (but smaller at 6-4), but the 6-8 Peter Mel rounded pin has a more pulled in tail

pics are from http://www.shorelinesurf.com/surf-boards.htm

Here’s a craigslist ad I found.  The seller sounds a bit like me, likes riding shorter boards, but doesn’t get out enough to do well on them.  I guess thats the reason my go-to board is a 9 footer for most days.  In certain swell conditions, 'tho, that’s just too much board for me.

I bought this John Carper surfboard in Maui last year. I have only surfed it about 5-6 times. It is a great board but not the best for me. I need a longer board as I don’t surf enough to ride something in this size range. I have attached a picture as it looks brand new. I will get some pics of my actual board if you are interested…or just pop by and take a look. Other than the wax on the board it is “as new.” Here are the dimensions

LENGTH: 6'10" NOSE: 12.8" MID: 20" TAIL: 14.6" THICK: 2.5" VOLUME: 39cc FINS: FCS TECHNOLOGY: Tuflite

I had the 6’6 version of the Equalizer years ago but not the surftech version.  I don’t even remember what happened to that board.  It was OK.  The 6’10 is a big freaking board.

I still have a 6’8 JC Mel-Machine that is a Surftech.  Good rider in bigger waves.
