John Mellor and other central coast people

I hope everyone is o.k. after your big quake. Care to describe what happened? Any new surf spots emerge or old ones go away?

Peter - Thanks for asking… I was a passenger in a car in Morro Bay when it struck. We pulled over thinking we had a flat tire. Lots of art glass and wine bottles smashed in shops along Embarcadero but no major structural damage that I could see. A big crack along the Embarcadero street/sidewalk with some water pipes broken. Morro Bay city crew doing a fine job taking care of things - checking bridges, shutting off mains, breaking out the back-hoes, etc. Fortunately epicenter was in an unpopulated area. Have heard reports of shaking as far as L.A. and S.F. with some areas closer to epicenter being hit pretty hard. John

I was standing at the urinal on the 5th floor of our office building which is built on landfill over by Candlestick. I thought I was getting sick due a very nervous morning waiting to give a presentation to our board. I put my hand on the wall and tried to steady myself and then when the stall doors were clanging and out the windows I could see tress swaying I knew it wasn’t me. It lasted about 20 seconds which is a long time. I realized where I was and tried to finish as fast as possible and get away from the huge windows I was facing. I thought about bailing to check the house (read: check the surf) but we were let back in the building just soon after. Not everyone is well Check out the photos below: http://www.nbcsandiego.com/slideshow/news/2721316/detail.html?qs=1&s=1&dm=ss&p=news

I went throught the 7.0 in 1989 that was epicentered about 6 miles from where I worked. That one lasted only about 10 seconds. Todays lasted over 30 seconds. That must have been pretty stressful.

Gooooolly! You city slickers got big winders to look out of when yur standing at the urinal? Me an the guys down at Floyd’s wanna know if you kin shake the drips off during an earthquake, or does the quake cancel out yur shakin of the bacon? -Gomer

Gomer, you silly fool we don’t have to shake - we have people that do it for us. Ohhh piss boy. And yes windows all around. They’re nice and big so we can look out at the rest of the world and have pity on them. Tell the boys down at Floyd’s hi for me. It’s been a while since I was in there but the last time they didn’t know a dipstick from a stick shift - seems like not much has changed.
