Again the waves were lacking, but It was definately better.
She feels very stiff at times…and then she releases and turns on a dime.
I think the 8.0 flex tip is way to big for the center fin. It’s kinda like driving a ferrari with big knobby tires! Will go by Frog House this week and pick up the smallest fin they’ve got. Would like to plan a day at Rincon or Trestles on a consistent wave that will allow me to “tune” the fins in. Surfed with my buddy who was riding a 7’8" and the 6’4" Stingray caught waves as easily or easier. Will test again this week…I hope!!
First off, good thing you aren’t my wife’s journal or my beans would be separate from my frank for reading you!!.
I am foaming at the mouth and want to start shaping my Aquafiend65’s Stingray but I am waiting for all the planets to be in alignment. I will have a tough act to follow…
Curtain pulls open… I want to shape glass and sand all in one foul swoop… how can I pay tribute to Aqua for including me on this design trip? I have sat down and layed out all fin placement on the template, It looks good for know… Still contemplating of 7 fin boxes are enough. I think the “infinite options” +2 will work well. Maybe * boxes to allow for a revers setup that chip and I have discussed. As for my version with extended length I think that the 23" w/ may be excessive and I am Thinking of pulling her in a bit. What was Aqua’s wide Point width?
She will for sure get a concave deck, maybe deck rail channels, and a serious abstract glass job. Already she will have a deck and or hull of carbon as well. I am thinking of 6oz hull w/ 6 oz fin patch, Carbon plainweave patch and 4 or 6 oz over the deck patch… Glass leashloop for sure… As for the hull, I am not sure If I want to follow Gary’s lead and think that flat to double concave under rear foot. Also Am a thinkin of a mini gun witha similar tail… thats aways off…
Well Journal… I can’t wait to share w/ Aqua and chip…
