Just got this giant chunk of foam from work

We produced this chunk of 2 lb urethane as part of a process trial for a large windblade project…

It seems to be begging to be made into a dugout surf kayak or something like that…

I thought that I would sand down the bottom to get to the smoother foam but keep the overall shape as it is…

I would hollow out the top as much as structurally possible.

I’ll probably have to add some ballast to get it to sit right…

I envision it looking like an inverted turtle shell or leaf with a few fins protruding from the apex of the hump…

I won’t be trying to create a work of art or the next cool surf craft with this, just a fun expirament with a free piece of foam…

My question is

Am I sitting on this backwards??

Would it work better the other way??

Will it work at all??

It’s upside down. Maybe a bit thick for a mccoy, but the loaded dome is definitely in place.

that last pic looks like a sportster tank
