Gday Swalockers,
Just thought I’d share a story about a board I made for a mate in Western Australia. I’ll keep it short.I shaped out a nice 6’3" fish for a mate,
(my third board) and thought for a nice touch I’d create some artwork on the deck to personalise it, you know, make it his board. So I carefully copied the Graft on his arm, a banded Tattoo (which was a family carving made in wood and passed on from his great grandfather from PNG).
On a trip home from one of the reef’s north of Perth, the board dissappeared from the roof racks due to a certain tie down mishap and then was gone…
So as the story goes, much concern for this board saw some of the longboard clubs of the west coast getting together and advertising the loss of the said “tribal Fish” and clearly stating if you have this board it did belong to someone…It’s return would bring reward…
A period of 3-4months passed then the phone rang… the board was returned, relatively undamaged for its ordeal and the young dude and his father who had found it accepted no reward. The deal was done. A box of beer, a handshake and the fish was returned
So although I live on the east coast, to the young bloke and his father who I’ll never meet I wish to say thanks…may the gods of karma smile on you;)
