yeah i’ll still post but my intenet connection at home isn’t up yet so i have limited time at school though. went on a boat and found ******* , the break platty’s always going on about, the longest wave in oz. nice spot! weird break. i finish school at 2.30 and surf in the arvos too. and school surfing is on tuesday where half the day you get to surf yew! they didn’t have it when I went to school here in Oz , either … [“damn kids today …got it SO good …” mutter mutter grumble swear under breath , be a grumpy old local , etc ]
somewhere among these thousands of schoolies just “may” be the next aussie world champ , in 2-10 years …“maybe” ?
…THEN , it will all have been worth it , methinks ?!
So they’re grooming competetive surfers in public schools aye…(or is this a private school?)
I’m not much for being competetive in the water, but so long as they are teaching surf etiquitte and such then I think that’s a great idea.
Is there are curriculum, or do they just go down to the beach for a surf every day? also, is there a shaping class, something like woodshop or auto mechanics?
and, is this all over australia, or just certain parts? anywhere else in the world?
I always know when it’s 9am here , I look back at the beach , a bus pulls up , and twenty kids with boards under their arms run down the path amping !
my brother teaches surf classes in victoria [2000 miles east of here ] , and a mate of mine teaches it in southern new south wales [also east of here , in oz]

But then WHAT do the kids do when they CUT school?
They surf… and surf real well, rotten little grommets! Nothing like being out in the middle of the day with a few of the local crew and seeing the bus (or several) pull up. Then the next day, you will see some of them again if the surf is still good. This time it’s the unsanctioned-instead-of-school-surfing. As i said, a lot of them surf really good. I jumped off the rocks the other day when the swell was up and spent most of the time dodging big peaks before catching a small one. The kids who came out charged, got hammered and (mostly) kept going. Pretty impressive, I reckon.
a girl at school from Pomgolia who’s sponsered by Buffulo skateboards knows Alva, reckons he’s a nice guy. she skated down kincumber mountain and got hammered. It’s a MASSIVE hill!
this thread is now "the official young Sir Josh thread "…
josh you luck SOB i am 120 miles from anyrideable surf, i knwo thats not nearly as bad as wildy but havn’t rode a waves since october 16th.
oh and i almost forgot:some kid here is trying to start a surf team, he doesn’t even surf. If they get it off the ground which i s fairly doubtful can you say 1st string long and shortboard? I am by no means good but better than anyone else in my school.(I better considering i am the only one who surfs on a seasonal basis)
will you ride the Auslocks board Josh , if no-one ELSE will ?
" Seriously! ofcourse i’ll ride it, i’m dying to ride it!!! it’s a widowmaker too which will be great fun plus its a sways board so you cant get better. as soon as it gets here i’ll be on it! "
way to go !
