Kick time

Hey guys, When I am pressed for available time what is the shortest possible times between glassing steps on a good day. I know how to adjust kick times but I am more interested in strength versus quick steps. I want to do two boards at once to optimize my time. Is there any reason I can’t lam the bottom and as soon as it sets hard enough to knock down the lap flip it and do the top? Then knock down the lap, baste, and start the hot coats where all this is done in a coupla’ hours? Will it affect the final strength? How long is the optimum wait for curing before sanding? Saw something from Kokua that indicated about 36/48 hours. Have to make better use of my time! Thanks, Mike

If you were using UV cured resin for the lam coat it cures in minutes. And that’s a full cure…no 10 day waiting period for the resin to fully interact with the MAEKP. Of course this deoends on the brightness of the sun. If it is cloudy it could take a bit longer to cure, say maybe 15 minutes. You can also use the UV stuff for the hot coat as well. However I have never had luck with this but others have, so give that a whirl as well.
