Luke, What kind of kneeboard are you planning to make? Check the archives under “kneeboard”, also visit the following website for specific ideas and links… http://www.ksusa.org/Forum/viewforum.php?f=11
Luke, Something to think about. There is two main schools of thought on kneeboard shapes and a whole lot other less well known ideas. The Aussie designs tend to be longer and wider that US mainland designs and fin placement is further up requiring a more “rider forward” position with much more hip swivel movement for turning. US mainland boards are a little narrower with fin placement similar to a shortboard. This shape supports a “leaning” type of turn with weight farther back than the Aussies ride. I ride a Romonosky (California design)round pin, quad, 5’6" x 22.5" (nose 15", tail 13" - if I remember right) handles surf up to 6-8 ft very well. We’re starting to see alot of the Aussie design/built boards showing up here in California (Parkes, etc,) but I haven’t seen any local builders adopting these designs. Talked to John Mel (Santa Cruz) the other day about a 'Big wave" board for the nationals contest a Pleasure Point in November and he suggested about 5’10" x 22" swallow tail quad.
