Kneeboard Rocker

Thinking about making a 5’6"-5’8" kneeboard for a tropical tube trip coming up. I’ll be using it when it gets too knarly for these old bones to get to his feet. I’m planning a slightly curvey, pulled in swallow with quad fins. I’m looking for some tail rocker suggestions. I don’t care about “looseness”, just a good projecting bottom turn and highline run to daylight. Thanks for any input…

Hi Lee,

Have a quad Romo that kinda behaves like you’re describing, be happy to take some measurements if you’d like.

best regards

doc…

Very similar to Lis fish rockers, very flat but continous curves.

Have seen SFKneelos old board, and 3 others lately very closely scrutinized.

Flat for speed and projection, thin for rider control and nose pitch control. And heavy for glide and anti bump when kneeriding and also for early takeoffs.

But at your physical size (aren’t you like 190?) maybe a hair longer and full 23 wide.

Hi Lee,

well, no, 170 these days, thankfully. I go with a 5’4" and damned if I know just how wide it is, I can get you some numbers on that too.

best regards

Thanks fellers…I’m around 175-180 and I made a bunch of single kneelos back in the olden days…so I was looking for a tail rocker to go with a quad set up. If you can take a peek in the morning Doc, I’d appreciate it. Don’t think there will be too much bump where I’m going but I will go a bit heavy just for banging around and pushing throught the offshores.

They always say, prepare for the worse, hope for the best…

Swells can pop up this time of the year, so better to be prepared…

Keep in mind, it’s for daze when the takeoff is too hairy for your regular standup…so don’t go too short like an allarounder…

I just use my regular boards(after the push in 70)…don’t really notice a difference…those that have seen me knee it, know that I’m very accomplished…I learned from a man that was over 6’-5" tall and used a old 10’ gronk for a kneeboard back before the push…I have to agree with big John …either you’re a waterman or you’re not !

…Don’t get me wrong LeeV there’s nothing wrong w/ a classic type kneeboard…but my best knee rides have come on my standard shorties or guns…by a long shot !!!
