Know Anything About This Board?

So I've been curious about this board. I don't know anything about it, I want to know more. Its been my Dad's wall hanger for a while, doesn't get surfed much (I'm planning on changing that) and I personally have never ridden it. So, today I finally took a bunch of pics of it, planning on posting them here to see what you guys know.

6'10" x 22.5" x 2.85"
shaped by Ford Richman from Leucadia

(I only know this because it says on the stick).

The pics should give you all the information...

awesome swirl / tint job!

nice foil / rocker

not so sure about the wide nose and swallowtail - kinda "different" looking

pretty substantial volume, for bigger or older guy?

tell your dad wallhangers look better when you clean the wax off before hanging!

OK, now its your turn...Ride report???

I like the color job and the rocker. I think the outline is ugly. But, who knows? It could work. Just doesn’t please my eye in the least. I agree that wall hangers need to be cleaned and buffed.

by wall hanger, i mean it stands in the corner of his bedroom, bottom facing the room.  the deck is never seen.  the wax stays becuase like i said, it gets ridden on occasion.  anyway, i took it out at 1st point on a small to medium sized day and it worked pretty good.  snagged a lot of waves and it did what i was asking of it, which is basically just hold trim down the line with a few, but minimal turns.  so i would say its pretty fun for that sortve wave.  i would be curious to see how it performs under some more serious speed though.  it was nice just to stand at the 2/3 mark and just trim it though, good feeling.  not the most functional outline though, thats for sure.  anyway, thanks for the comments!

I wouldn't pay any attention to people who don't know what they are talking about.  The outline is good.  Also fulll enough to catch plenty of waves.  You could improve the board overall by adding sidebites.  FCS plugs would be an easy install.  That board would easily handle three or four foot overhead surf if sidebites were added.

Howzit sammy and huck, I agree with both of you so that is 3 things I think are sort of strange about the board and the best part is the swirl. Aloha,Kokua

Here we go again…

Hey not bad for 004, but not good on the outline by professional standards.  That resin swirl looks like alien excrement, but I like the colors.  The outline falls apart at the nose more than anywhere else in the last few inches it straightens out too much, and loses its sexyness.   Leucadia is mired in a retro-cool movement looking for a messiah.  People are riding some stupid crap there; its almost always surfable, but never good.

WTF! Too much.

#004…not bad.

Every once and a while I will get someone that wants a point on a round nose. I know whose boards they are trying to get me to " copy", “eggie rails, flat rocker, full parallel, outline” etc. I play dumb and make em MY version of that style board. BUT I have seen guys pay BIG bucks for boards from the guy they were trying to get me to copy and they have noses very close, his are more refined from time, to this board.

#004…Good job work on making some better templates to perfect “your” look.

...........lol.

Hey Ace - I couldn't figure out what it was that bugged me about the nose - that's it.   A point on a round nose!

i think it looks kinda cool… different.  who is the shaper that does this, that was referred to earlier?  i havent seen much of that kind of thing before

A point on the nose is aesthetic and hasn't got a thing to do with the way it would ride.

You do have a point there.

The nose knows

That nose stinks.

Most Guru’s like myself know that a pointy nose makes the board go twice as fast. It cuts through the atmosphere much better. If you paint it red it will go even faster. You guys don’t know squat.

It's a simple opinion really..   If the guy who shaped this board were a "noob" or poster here on Sways you would all be telling him how good it looks for his fourth attempt.  Assuming 004 means this is his fourth board.  But because none of you know who he is and because he is not a member of the "club", nor here to defend himself;  you crap on the shape.  A pointy nose at the stringer is a sure sign of a beginner.  That doesn't make the board unfunctional.  I merely stated that IMHO the board could be dramatically improved by adding side-bites.   Totally rideable in average to good surf.  Are there things I don't like about the shape?  Yes I could criticise heavily.  But it looks as good as most of stuff I've seen most of you post pics. of here on Sways.

no matter what the board is, at worst, fun to ride.
