Aloha … Yes Clyde’s brother John lives up that way . I want to say Daytona . What got me interested is that all the “short” ha! boards 8ft. I have had made for me seemed draggy if I used the side fins . Pretty sure its from the toe . I wanted to try the adjustable ones . As of yet I have not been able to try them . Shapers sometimes don’t like change . So I’m gonna do it myself. I was also wondering about the possibility of putting the Edge system in where there is another side bite box allready there… I have a couple of boards I’d like to try it on . I won’t ride them with side fins now so why not try it . Whats there to loose . I have seen 4 different size fins so far . Think they have more and was told they could make any fin I want . Just to supply a template… Try it … you might like it . I remember Greg Loher saying something like … The fins are the last thing to experiment with to make boards ride differently… Something like that… Mahalo… Don J.
Howzit Hotcoat, I think Greg said he has the Edge fin system on his boards. I also think that clyde has fin blanks so you can actually template and foil to your own specs and if you don't want to ride it as a thruster they have plugs to put in the holes where the fins go. Aloha,Kokua
John, Aloha! You are totally right about fin toe, fins pointed at the nose or even crossing the nose will lossen the ride ( but sacrifice down the line speed) and fins running parrallel to the stringer will give you more drive and control… Brother John and I designed Edge Fins so that the surfer could experiment with and fine tune there surfboard, not only to the surf conditions but also a surfers style!!! ck out our web for more info! www.edgefins.kauaistyle.com . How can I help you get a set of edgefins under your board? maybe we can hook you up with bro John, he may be able to even install. He works out of Randy Richenberg and Wooster surfboards in edgewater…
Thank you for cking out our fin system, Have a great surf ! Clyde Rodgers (808-651-1459)
