kwik kick and pigments

Anybody using KK with pigments or tints? I’m wondering about having to match a color- could you add the tint to the resin before mixing with hardener? You know if you have to add a little , test, add a little more, test, etc etc. You wouldn’t have time to color match if you already added the hardener. And then spreading it around…it sounds so different in viscosity I’m wondering how the foam accepts the color?

I have done two boards so far with KK and tints. I add it to the resin part first and mix to get it where I want it (a bit darker to account for the hardener dilution). Once I add the hardener, if it’s not dark enough, I add more but this happens quickly. One thing I have begun doing is using plastic syringes (for children’s medicines) and knowing exactly how much tint I add to the mix. This has gotten me much more consistent results.

As for the viscosity/foam issue, it seems to work fine. One tip I got from Mellor was to make SURE you have a solid spackle coverage on the blank (EPS). Do a couple coats of spackle just to make sure you’ve covered everything. The bead-voids are what mess up an EPS/Epoxy tint (darker in the voids) so fill them in.
