what a great place to be in the 1970's and into the mid-80's. I worked at La Costa for awhile and then divided my time as a landscaper and merchant marine. we knew where every party worth going to was and had access to friends hot tubs, swimming pools and crash pads. the beach parties were epic. local law enforcement didn't hassle us as long as we weren't giving booz to the teeny-bops. every weekend was spent surfing, swimming, playing volleyball, and partying. met many crazy friends including ralph johnson, lane, the stiltman, the zigster, wickenknack, joey carter, scott, pugsly, carter, rene and her escondido girlfriends. Royal liquor was the closest party supply store and we kept them in business. I have bookoo pictures from that time including the 1975 stone steps surfing contest, an excellent one of moonlight with no human in sight(taken at daybreak in january). Eating at spider's sub shop and racing the cars through encinitas on my ten-speed. I had a great tan and very few worries. if we could turn the clock back-that's where I would be in a heartbeat.
