Sorry yet another question. Scince the weather is getting warmer tomorrow I will be glassing 3 layers of glass and was wonering if it is a bad idea to do so much at once. I will be using slow cure epoxy if that matters. Thanks.
Shouldn't be a problem, you just need to pull back 2 layers, pour epoxy, then roll glass over the pour. Then pour remaining epoxy on top.
Doing it this way will eliminate trapped air pockets, and dry spots. You'll still be able to pull off excessive epoxy once its all wetted out.
Do you usually use a slow cure epoxy for hand laminations? If it’s warmer, and the resin will be thinner and with a longer cure time you just want to make sure that it’s not going to drain off of the rails. Otherwise, you’re fine.
Do-able but may not be desireable. I used to lay three layers of 7.5 oz Volans in the knee wells of my “Shoe” style knee boards in the early '70s. As suggested above, cut lay dry then roll back one or two layers and work in some resin, to minimize bubbles. The resin would have to be REAL thin to drain from three layers. With sun cure it would be a no-brainier.
