Gonna throw this out there…
With thruster set ups in larger surf, does the “Inside” foil have advantages?
My plan is (or was) to make two sets of thruster fins.
For “Boy” and Big Sis 6’-6” not really a gun IMHO.
That is long by Boys standard, so more like big Rincon.
Said fin plan was one set straight foil (forward fins)
And the other set with inside foil.
Just thinking maybe someone could save me some time.
Thanks!
I think inside foil fins help on boards with inadeqate toe-in. So, set your fins right, flat insides work fine…

Inside foil is always better than flat, it has a less drag. Flat fins are invented for cheaper production, nothing more.
However, the question is how much better. On bigger waves, you don’t care about the fin drag, so it doesn’t really matter.
So just go flat if that saves you time.

…without inside foil is better for smaller boards and hot dogging surfing due to the cavitation that “force” or add to initiate the turn; and that s what s all about in modern surfing.

I’ve found inside foil to be better, but not so easy to find… As I understand the science, it helps the flow “stick” to the fin.
