latest projects: Much thanks to Griff and Pierre

Yeah, I did do the hard down rails all the way back, that was a big motivation for making this board since I already like my rails that way.

The carbon tubes I got from two locations. I got the .500" OD tubes from dragonplate.com, and the .500" ID tubes from carbonfibertubeshop.com. The tubes from CFTS were way better quality, and more expensive too. They’re mandrel-wound and compressed, while the ones from dragonplate are extruded (or some word like that). You can also get .750" ID and OD from those sources, but it is quite a bit more expensive.

Got it out for a couple of waves yesterday, not really enough to judge too well though. The wind was like 25-30 onshore, so the waves were really fat and hard to get into. The waves that I did get, however, felt great. It was way looser than I expected with that much fin area, and it was also way drivey-er through the turns. I really want to get it into some halfway decent and semi-lined up waves to I can get a better feel for it, but initial indications are good. The only concern I have is the getting-into-wave-ability. I’m hoping the sensation of not being able to get in as early as I’m used to was just due to the absolute crap conditions yesterday, and not to some design issue with the board itself (like being too small for me!).

Shaping on a different plane than the rest of us as usual, very nice work!

Put a golf bag logo on your board bag,the kite boarder’s have one that says GOLF on it to

avoid the extra plane charge.

Good to see the new wood working toys are giving you those beautiful long planks.

I did a little retro fit on this 6’ fish to practice a ProBox installation.

ProBox rocks!!Very easy and idiot proof.

Took it out today in overhead+ surf. After I got used to trying to catch waves on a 6’ surfboard it was fast and fun.

My normal short boards are around 7’.

Griffen has definitely got some thing going on with the 5 finer’s.Thanks for the inspiration.

Yeah, I’m very stoked on my cheap little thickness planer, way better quality than I ever expected at the price.

Now I just need a big ol’ Skil 100 to go with it! Actually, I probably don’t.

I’m getting my skins down to right at 1/16, so thin enough to justify using the cedar with its heavier initial weight. It definitely feels more pressure-resistant than the balsa skins. And I learned an awful lot about wood selection on that first batch. I’ll have a whole new outlook next time I go through the 2x4 pile at Lowes.

i missed this thread the first go 'round.

good work Shwuz! definitely food for thought.

the boards came out beautiful as usual

any update Shwuz?

very interested
