LB helicopter 360

do any of you shapers or rippers out there have an opinion on why some performance LB s seem to work better doing helicopters thans others ( given similar fins and placement and similar board size/volume and rocker) I have my second Ricky Carroll custom 9’4" which is similar to the last 5 LBs i’ve had except its a little thicker. I LOVE IT , but- It slides out and sideslips like expected but just won’t come all the way around like many of the others ive had over the years. I just end up going sideways for a while and either re-setting the rail or falling. I have done these for years using the same technique but its not working with this shape-why?

Gotta post a shot of the board. Rails catching as it comes around? Harder rails?

I hope we are talking about the same thing here(taking off fin first and spining the board around).

I have not had a problem on any of my boards doing that… dont ride a ‘high perf.’ longboard either…more of low rocker, one fin, convex bottom boards. I find its easier if you take off later, when the face is steep, and immediatley get the fin in the top of the wave. steepness helps get the board around so you don’t stall out the back. you might have to use your hand to turn like a finless.

after riding my 8’8 for a while and doing some of these, it was much harder to do on my 9’6, which i previously had no prob with… you should get used to it, but I am convinced that it can be done well on almost any board

good luck

dont have pick of board thatll show much- rails conventional high perf- hard edges tucked under, softer thru mid. And no I’m not talking fin firsts- thats a 180, no prob there, just can’t get the tail around far enouph on side slip 360 when gettimg backwards -to finish the end of the rotation.
