Could anyone let me know what the best type of router bit is best to use to set leash plugs?
If anyone could post a photo of what you're using it would be awesome.
Thanks much.

Just use a Forstner bit 1" be careful and check depth with the plug your using. Its very easy but again be careful with the depth the bit will chew right through the foam in the blink of an eye!
1"? I always use a 35mm forstner… = 1-3/8"
I prefer a router plate guide, and a 3/8th inch carbide router bit. Like cutting butter, with precission depth control. Many ways to skin that cat.
Yep 1" the plugs I've been using from greenlight fit perfectly with that bit size. I think there are the mini plugs if I remember right.
It really depends on the size of your plug… but yes i use a forstner bit.
A forstner bit makes a very clean hole with ease. However, I believe that a hole saw bit creates a stronger bond with the foam/stringer, thanks to the added surface area of the bit that forms a little peg or dimple under the plug… it helps to sort of anchor the plug deeper into the board if you have the thickness to spare. It does take a bit more effort, but I think every little bit of added strength helps, and is worth it. I also like to ream the foam under the edge of the glass around the perimieter with a screw head, just like you do when you sink fin plugs or boxes… gives it that flange effect.
A hole saw or Forstner bit…
A relatively flexible hole guide template masking taped or clamped to the board eliminates any chance of the bit wandering and making a messy ragged hole while drilling… 1/8" or 1/4" template material works great here…
I even belive Greenlight sells a template guide for the plugs they sell…
i use a holesaw,and a jig..............same as for fcs boxes.
forstners or a spade blade will work too.

I do it same as Herb does, 3/4" thick template so you don’t have to use the pilot bit in the hole saw. Masking tape on the saw to measure depth, non-slip mat on the template bottom.
