Leash Plug Screw Up- how to remove?

So I screwed up my leash plug installation with an amateur mistake and now need some advice. After I left the leash plug to cure, I came back and found that the tape that I had covering the hole of the plug somehow lifted. The leash plug is now filled with resin that has hardened. Now there is no way to get a leash rope under the metal bar (can’t even see the metal bar). I tried chipping away some of the resin with a drill, but it was a futile attempt.

I’d like to completely remove that plug and drop in a new one (being much more careful next time around). Any suggestions for the best way to remove a leash plug without mutilating the board? I used a Forstner bit to drill the holl in the board for the plug originally, but that won’t help me much here because of the metal bar in the plug. I imagine the same issue would apply with a hole saw.

Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

Try making a jig out of wood to use a hole saw that is the same size as the original hole needed for the plug. But dont use the drill bit in it, just the saw. Pretty much the same procedure for removing a FCS X2 plug. The wood jig will help keep the saw from moving since the drill bit is out.

I had some epoxy get in one of my plugs and tapped a nail with a hammer on it and it cracked the resin off.

good luck

Tried Bluefinsurf’s suggestion and figured out a way to use the holesaw without the pilot. It worked! I was able to pop the whole mess right out. Thanks! The holesaw I have is bigger than the original hole by 1/4" but no big deal-- I’ll just use a regular size leash plug instead of a mini.

next time just dremel out the resin.
