Are you sure it is a leash plug ?? If not, it is probably a set up where you route out the fin box… Then (using a pilot bit first) drill a 7/16 hole from the deck into the routed slot… Cover the hole with tape and then set you fin box as normal using pigmented resin… Once this has cured, remove the tape exposing the previous 7/16 hole… using a 1/4 inch drill bit, drill a hole from the deck through the fin box… Insert leash string through hole…

CS- I believe this is the one Teddy is looking for. They work well for me too. To add a little more to what you noted, I drill the pilot hole, tape it and then push a waxed match stick or something like that through the hole and leave it there until the pigmented resin kicks. This little pilot hole makes it easier to get a nice centered 2nd hole through the middle of that 7/16" plug of resin. Use a cool batch of resin, too much catalyst and it might separate from the foam and the hotcoat layer on top. Tom S.

Sounds a bit like the buttplug, but it propably isn’t. Thought I had a link for it but didn’t. regards, Håvard

You got it Tom.Did you know that the big production guys actually plunge route the hole while routing the box?It saves a step.I have recently been using a 1/2 inch bit for the first hole and 1/4 inch bit for the second one.I use brad point bits.I lightly punch a starter hole with an awl or ice pick, this eliminates the centering problem. To finish use a chamfering bit to relieve the sharp edges.

I think they now call it The BP leash attachment. I guess Butt Plug and ASS (advanced surf systems) was starting to raise a lot of questions concerning their sexuallity…wonder why? I have a few around…don’t like’um. Up for grabs.
