leave it to the french

some consideration is in order,

the express use perameter

for this design is going to be

when it is attatched to the roof

of the Autoban stealth black

and silver with red detail auto:

It will be through bolted to the roof of the car

for aerodynamic concern, and it will be set upon the roof deck up.

these two features,I forsee, to be put simply are testimony

to the afection  designers have swelling in their hearts

for the simple appreciation of the form

they see attop passing autos embelished with surfboards.

these are non surfers who just wanna be seen

-driving a fast car-

from Gdansk/Danzig to Biarittz in record time to simply be seen

pulling up to the casino in the early am and handing their car keys to the valet .

The new BOND… Jeremy Potempkin…

'Hey Thats ME"

to be the :

russian,aussie, hawaiian genes ,

Q-land raised,and Hawaiian surf trained.

Surfboards photographed in the dim light have

hidden agendas.Definately a movie prop.

…ambrose…

oh lets all cut our achilles tendon

on the rail fins…

is the doctor in the house

on studio retainer?

Peugeot does make good cars. My father bought pretty much all Peugeot models along the years, from the 203 to the 406 Coupé. I followed in his track, buying those for Mrs Balsa:

And I also had two peugeot vans for some time: an old J7 and a Boxer.

But to each his own: I’ll let them make the cars, I’ll make the boards.

actually putting that board on the top of one of those old canvas top Citroen clown cars would be a statement in it self.

And yes I think Peugeot makes decent stuff Citroen too

no worse maintenance wise than a Jaguar or MG

The Citroen Turtle and Saab (99) Turtle are my two all time favorite designs, function over beauty

Yeah, to be fair Balsa, I did do 197,000 miles in a trusty 206HDi. Awful suspension designed by amoeba on Saturn, but lasted the distance. I’ve had a few. 106 Rallye Mk1, bloody amazing! 106 rallye Mk 2, good, 206GTi, nice engine, bog awful suspension. Gave up at that point. Just this afternoon I went German and got a VW T5 1.9. I’m typing this whilst glancing out the window at it and feeling my underpants slightly moisten…

C'mon Bernie - With all due respect, if that very same board had been made (and posted) by Greg Griffin, Gary Young (or CMP?) it would have been held up as a work of genius.

john

i wasn’t dissing it

what i found amazing that a highly schooled professional designer asked to created a surfboard representing all the positive features of a brand he is supposed to support comes up with a design very similar and previously heckled when Paul Cole brought it here in the mid 2000’s.

The almost same design that my hero Tom Morey thought up some 30+ years ago in his article Spaceboards in Surfer Magazine.

From a design stand point this person or team has far more education and experience regarding design than most anyone making boards with the exception that they probably don’t have all that weight of the historical demands boards makers are obliged to follow to not get ridiculed.

Its amazing to me that this is the shape that was created and its similarities to that created by other’e with similar backgrounds (engineering)

I ride twin nose Gemini’s so function over form is my mantra

I almost bought a meyerhoffer to give that design a go

so no I’m not dissing this concept

more in awe

Hey China,

These boards are the next big thing! Wink-Wink.

Ramp up production.

Beat us to the market-place with these.

Flood the market with them.

They are gunna be bigger than Paddleboards.

Man I was going to open a 20,000 square foot manufacturing facility to produce these.

I was going to own the world with these.

You win China.

HE HE.

I always liked the Renault R5 Turbo rally car. That seemed like quite a beast.

Maybe Firewire will buy the rights to those designs.

Balsa,  The insults here are a challange to French Honor of all things French. It is up to you to modify the Design and make something that will not only work but excell in French waves but waves all over the world.  ( Now play La Marseillase as loud as you can)   remember all the Great French Chefs , Wine Makers, The heroic Lafayette, For all those that manned the Barricades and  the French resitance! For Monet, Pissarro, Rodin! For Inspector Clouseau! Now wipe the tears of pride from your eyes and get to work!

OK, Artz.

When I think of the words “nautical” and “French” together this is what comes to my mind-

The French pretty much rule the seas when it comes to single handed around the world sailboat racing.  That says a lot about their nautical tradition.

Now when it comes to corporate involvement and R+D budgets the boats got that.  If surfing wants to compete then we have to get car manufacturers, oil companies, banks and major high tech companies to sponsor.  How many would like it if the next WCT World Champ was sponsored by Chevron or Bank of America???

Do

ToTo.

We already do

Alec Cooke got us to sponsor the north shore tow in contest off Puena for several years but we’re the biggest bank on the Northshore

Bank of the West was involved in the US Open several years bbacklit more about community involvement for CRA credit than it is about investing in the technology.

the budgets than industry icons ave to throw at things would make most weak in the knees.

Imagine the R&D budget of google or Samsung?

seems like its more about lines and asthetics than functional use.

"If surfing wants to compete then we have to get car manufacturers, oil companies, banks and major high tech companies to sponsor."

Bufo Surfboards won an award in Germany several years back and received a big R&D grant from Volkswagon.  They have developed some innovative manufacturing technology and have marketed it under license to several different brands here in the US.

Johnmellor, I understand what you mean about ’ sponsors" on The other hand would that kind of sponsorship really do Surfing any good? It has been said many many times before. The pure act of riding waves gets lost in the pursuit of money.
