thanks for the info, GBZ, were you happy with the result from the materials you had purchased?
I found some local sheet material ( shelf and drawer liner) but am a bit skeptical about using, seems a
bit crumbly, maybe too light in density.

tgrey pretty much all 1/8 cork is the same except corecork , corecork is much tighter by that I mean the cork granules are compressed and held together tighter by corecorks own process and is not readily available , but having said that the regular everyday cork performs the same you just have to be careful when handling and applying it . I mark out where I want the cork on the board , make pattern , mark around the pattern onto the cork , cut out , mask off the area you want the cork , use a roller to wet the deck ( the board is already glassed but not sanded ) then wet the cork with a roller , sparingly , lay cork on deck and wrap tightly with cling film , it is not nec to vac bag , you can buy 1000ft roll from home depot for $20 , do you have home depot in Alaska ? after dry , you can sand around the edge of the cork using 100 grit put a chamfer of about 45deg if any resin came thru you can sand off with the 100 grit , once on the cork will not come off you will have to grind it off , you can surf without wax the cork is very grippy it also prevents most heel dents , resists dings , and floats , it adds very little to the overall weight of the board . hope that helps
hey, thanks for the info. The local Home Depot does not stock but will special order
some cork underlayment , a roll of 1/4 and a roll of 1/8 should give me
