Lets see your Rice Paper logos.

Just like there’s no actual latex in “latex paint”, there is no actual rice in “rice paper” (unless your talking about the stuff used in asian food made from rice flour). Most of the paper being sold as “rice paper” is made from plant fibers such as mulberry and hemp. There are unlimited ways to process this stuff to get certain qualities in the end product. The texture, thickness, surface smoothness,transparency/translucency, absorbancy of the paper are properties that can be controlled when making the paper. Colorful art papers ,shoji screens, cigarrette rolling paper, book restoration paper, asian brush painting paper, oragami paper and the paper surfboard laminate silkscreeners use all get lumped in under the “Rice Paper” category.

I believe you are right.  There are several varieties of paper that fall into this category;  The paper that  is used inside a shoe box to wrap a pair of shoes, tissue paper that is used to wrap wedding and shower gifts/presents, Zig-Zag white cigarettte papers that are used to wrap( uh well we know what they are used to wrap).  The same paper can be bought in hobby and art shops.  Does it have rice fiber in it?  If it is from Japan;  Probably.  If it is made in the US probably not .  Most rice straw is burned off in the Sacramento Valley, thereby contributing to the very poor air quality of the San Joaquin Valley.

Stoney or Bodhi(if you prefer):  What is a jpg, tif, gif file?  URL?  Tree image box?

dude -------- you are definitly not "retro"  and that was not intended for you.  You are definitly cutting edge and light years ahead of everybody else around here.

C’mon McDing, put up or shut up !!

If an imbescile like me can post a photo of my own shitty work, surely a “Pro” ? ,

like yourself can ?

M'Ding, the burning of the rice chaff has been outlawed and spurned a new industry of recycling the rice fibers. It is used in building, You probably know this. The long rolls you see used on sites and in the streets to control run-off are rice fiber. When I was in college in Chico, the smoke would overwhelm a 500 mile square area. Worse than the worst smog day in L.A. before the AQMD board. During the burns you would see pheasant everywhere taking flight. Guys would drive around with loaded shotguns just for that. Poaching or not.

I may be wrong but I believe Atomized was correct in stating it is paper made from the Mulberry tree. That's what they made the incendary balloons out of in WWII. Sent them across the pacific to burn out our forests. Bastards! Imagine if that happened! Thank Heaven for the weather patterns in the Pac. No. West. Some balloons made it but the rains thankfully put them out. They enlisted school children in the manufacture of these balloons.

LMAO

Bodhi is my typical dry, mocking sarcasm in response to another member’s need to see locations under screen names.  Everybody knows what is posted on forums is factual … hee … hee … hee

Clue: birth place of an actor is the location I posted.

I am fairly certain what is commonly referred to as rice paper is mulberry paper.  Does anybody really care …

Where are all of the damn logos?

Tblank--- Your a great guy etc.  But!  They still burn rice fields in the Sacramento Valley.  The technical side of what constitutes rice paper are beyond my limited knowledge.  Most Japanese paper (if it is from Japan) as I said most likly has some rice fiber in it..  Burning rice fields in the Sac. Valley is a waste of a good resource.  I would be in favor of baling the straw and burning the stubble.  That process would result in a lesser evil polution wise and the straw could be used for paper, bedding at Bay Meadows and assorted wood products, including Co-Gen plants.  But they continue to do what they have Always done.  It has not been outlawed, only restricted to a permit process based on optimal "burn days".  Remember I've got "wheels on my a$$" .  Hauled rice out of those fields when I was a kid and drive thru it regularly.  Terrible waste of a good resource.  They burn in Japan as well.

I'm good with a square, protractor, tape meausre ect.  But I had a total mental block on algebra when in high school.  I've had a couple of people walk me thru the procesof posting pics. and I'm sure I'll get it someday.  But!   Ask me ; If it matters that much to me?  It's important to alot imbeciles though I can certainly descern that.

My appologies Mcding and Reverb, I just thought we should make light of these slinging situations.  All good.

M,Ding, I didn't realize they were still burning, haven't been through the Sac. Valley in a number of years I must admit. I remember when they were really pushing for the ban. As an Ag. student, this was a big deal. One of my old classmates told me they stopped the burn. He must have been mistaken on a total ban. And yeah, with those "wheels on your a$$" don't doubt you for a minute. Gotta get back up there soon, been too long. Cheers.

heres mine…

Does’nt bother this imbescile that much, but it would seem that you take pleasure in hangin s@#t on Reverb !!! At least he can post proof of his work.

Here’s mine, and not a sausage in sight. I printed it by sticking a sheet of rice paper to a sheet of normal A3 printer paper and running it through my work’s Fuji Xerox print station. Came up nicely, but I’ve yet to test it under glass.

Here are a few of my logo’s I regularly print on RICE PAPER. They are all created by me on Photoshop.

Billy I really like your clown fish, Epic LOL. I have photshop but can only layermask  and basic things I need to learn to draw and do vector graphics.

The production Cat 6 Surf logo.

Printed on Xuan paper in gray scale using inkjet or laser.

I use convex style bottoms and I have to babysit till it gells cause some areas don’t lay down

I like that style very much Lake.

When tackling that problem on other types of boards I’d apply them into the work through solid or vacuum pressing.

Vacuum application under clear plastic preferred (when not under production constraints) because it allows the resin/air to be worked out from underneath.
