Someone else brought up this site lib-tech.com. They have something called a banana board snow board where the area between the riders feet is flat and you can flex the tail (or nose) to flat if you choose. Sound like a good idea? By the sounds of things these boards also go pretty damn good. I also think they may have some relevance rocker wise to the Coil surfboards. Coil surfboards to me also seem to be shaped a little like an S board from what I have seen of the photos.
i had a chance to test one once (the skate banana)
and it really did ride much like a skateboard
although i’m not to sure on how it compares to a coil board
That lib-tech website is hilarious, thanks for the link. It looks like they’re onto some good
things in snowboard flex patterns.
Getting the flex and ‘‘feel’’ optimized is our primary goal at Coil. When Kirk and I shape,
we start that process by using some of the design variables to influence flex. Other factors
in the rest of the build continue to engineer the finished product. A whole lot of trial and error
(dif fibers and lam schedules, vacuum techniques, foam types and densities) as well as good
old fashioned creativity has been put into the Coil process over the last 15 years. And that’s
an ongoing thing, Kirk and Eric have new stuff going all the time.
