Does anyone have info on Greg’s “Smoothie” design? Kirk mentioned it in the stubbie thread. How does it feel in comparison to the other shapes at liddlesurfboards.com. What type of waves and riding style is it designed for?
Het Plate , the smotthies are a step up from the boards Greg rides in Hawaii , by that I mean there a little fuller in the outline to ride a bigger variety of conditions. I ve got a new one in my shop ill go get the numbers on it. 7’6’’ by 22.75 wide ,nose 17.75,tail 15’‘and 3’’ thick. He also makes a point break model that is more extreme, more wide point forward, rounder nose temp.I gotta go to wwork!! Later Plate
Looking for a second board, shorter than my 9 ft. Channin LB for NJ beach break with some size - the McCoy Nugget looks great but a bit too expensive with shipping from OZ (see current thread on Longboard.net).
Question - Would a Greg Liddle hull or Scott Anderson Borjoquez Grande (spelling?) not be a very effective shape in beach break conditions (only good for CA or HA)? I rarely go to RI for point break surf. These boards intrigue me though. I guess am searching for an alternative other than a standard Big Guy thruster. At the end of the day is a thruster the best overall choice (I would like it a little thicker and wider w/ strong glassing - no chips)? What thrusters do you like?
Also considering a Stu Kenson Mutant DT SF (re: G&S Waterskate?). Welcome your feedback. Thanks, John
I rode an Anderson 7’2 Bojoroquez hull in Long Island beach break, it worked great. Where I live, the jetties organize the swell nicely, with offshore winds the waves just peel. The guy who owns the board styles on it. It helps to be a front foot surfer, or to be comfortable with that style of surfing…
Hey John, look through the recent threads for solosurfer as I think he is getting a multi-board order ogether from McCoy. Or look at his site www.solosurfer.com as he has a few McCoy’s for sale there at reasonable prices.
I’m in NJ as well and tho I have never ridden a Bojoroquez I have the shape taped to the computer and something about it just looks right for the waves out front here.
check out the bojo pescado by anderson.a good alternative for beach breaks.same hull bottom, etc.
