Lighter than 4oz cloth?

I am making an ultra light shortboard and instead of using a single 4oz on the deck I was thinking of using 2 layers of 2.3oz cloth for just a touch more strength. I like the idea of 2 lighter layers as opposed to a single, heavier layer.

My current boards are contructed using double 4oz on the deck and the second to lightest foam. They are not pressure denting AT ALL and I am willing to experiment with somethign significantly lighter.

Thinking of going PU, lightest foam available from US blanks, 2 layers of 2.5oz on the deck and a single 4oz bottom.

Looking for feedback on the multiple layers of ligher cloth idea.

…US and Arctic blanks are way heavier than Surfblanks Australia and that Surfblanks Brazil. You will have a lighter stronger boards with just that…changing the foam and checking for the right plug.

The problem with weights outside 4oz and 6oz is that most premium fiberglass does not come in those. So expect not a surfboard specific fiberglass or the best washes or the best finish quality

If you want super light, go EPS/Epoxy.

Then the 2x4oz s-glass deck 1x4oz s-glass bottom schedule will make a good board.

NOTE: The JBL 4oz s-glass is actually 3.7 oz…
