Lindsey Lord, a PHD from MIT

Seeing his boards, and especially reading research that inspired him, is a way to get into his head. If that were really possible to do.

That’s exactly what I’m trying to do. The book cost me $28.00 and I found it @ www.amazon.com

Where did you see one of his boards?

There was one at a recent longboard collectors event, for an asking price of $ 30K. The Surfing Heritage Foundation has several examples on display, including some twin fin concaves. I can’t remember if they have an example of his slotted rail design. Another of his interesting paths. I think you got an outstanding price on ‘‘The Book’’, I paid twice that amount and was happy about it! Simmons, I am told, would rarely, if ever , discuss the theory behind his designs. I’ve had fun unravelling what was going on with his twin-fin concaves. Getting a grip on Lord’s concepts, is the key to ‘‘unlock’’ where Simmons was going with his designs.
