Too lazy too retype the whole thread, so if anyone’s interested, here’s a link to my “Build Thread” over on everyone’s favorite Design Forum…And thanks to everyone here who has helped with my questions!

Thanks…I’m glassing both the top and bottom with one layer of 10oz. tinted volan, then a layer of 60z. clear on both as well.

Hey Tenover, sweet board! I try to foil mine out the same way. Some weight and pinched rails=fun fast noserides. Did you use the Walker old man foam or the standard?

just cruised the lam shots

goin good bucko

goin good.

one of the masking paper take off shots visually confusing to my eye

I said to my self

wow that fin has a long base!

a fin like that template is a real design commitment!

then the next photo said it outloud…

hey that wasnt a fin…

and I continued to be entertained.

thin is a winner

and the board’s wood will help it from

flexing beyond the glass breaking point…

one reson thick can be positive

engineering.

thin performance is undeniably HOT

its was when it tensioncrax

in a couple boards

that it made me retreat

to thicker realms.

the days of riding thin are

indelible memories.

bitchin deluxe dad

bitchin.

little mo work

and the seagrass

will tickle the underside

of that beauty…

…ambrose…

aloha from waipouli

I liked this shot especially, the look of anticipation, concentration and concern. The pictures really fill in the blanks (no pun intended) as to what you are doing, and hombre’, you are doing it. Very cool!

Thanks…

Oh, and to answer the question above, that is a Walker blank, custom ordered with dropped nose and tail rocker and custom stringers (cedar middle, balsa sides).

the board looks good mate

can’t wait to see the finished product!

keep posting

Updated tonight…

duuuuude…stooooooooked

Just what i was hoping for…

Ok, I need Swaylockian knowledge here…I just got this huge fin from Gene Cooper, and I’m wondering how I should glass it on. I know how to glass a fin on, but I’m wondering:

1.) Should I add an extra 4oz. fin patch at the back of the board first?

2.) Would 4oz. football patches (say 4 per side, gradually bigger, finally covering the entire fin on each side) and 6 or 7 layers of rope on each side of the base be enough?

Thanks…

THIN = GOOD! i ride 2 3/8"s on 9’+ Comp boards. and the fin looks sick you’ll be doing some sick pivot turns with that square tail…

There is probably some back story here that I should be aware of, but I am not… So, just out of curiosity, why would you seek help and advice at Swaylocks, but post your build thread at SurferMag (as well as cite it as “everyone’s favorite design forum”)? Seems a bit odd…

No back story.

I’ve been posting here for years, and since this is pretty much “standard stuff” for the Sway’s crew and has been posted over and over on Swaylocks, I just thought that it would be “another build thread”. I’ve never seen any decent, thourough build threads over there, so I thought I’d switch it up a little. And the comment about “everyone’s favorite design forum” was, uh…well, it was intended as 100% sarcasm.

ten-0,

Your board is looking awesome! Very nice.

Makes sense. Sorry - just exercising my privilege to be inert material, I guess… I have avoided SM and its forum like the plague for many moons, that probably provided unneeded enhancement to my cluelessness.

A couple small updates made (deck/knee and tail patches)…no biggie.

…Put the massive skeg on tonight…

Hotcoated the deck tonight…Kicked it about 1 or 2 cc’s less than what Herb said and it worked out great (thanks Herb)…
