Lis 5 fin

I was perusing some old mags and came across an small article about Steve Lis in a issue from 1999. In the picture you can see him with some five fin boards.  Iinteresting that the guy who was instrumental in starting the whole twin fin/ twin keel movement has moved on and is/was (ten years ago) using five fins.

I’m wondering if anyone here has any experience with them and/or knows anything about the fin placements he’s using.  It  seems they’re set in like 2" from the rail, or maybe that’s a illusion given by the photo?

ACE who lives in San Diego and post here has been making 5 and 6 fin boards for quite awhile.   Maybe he'll notice and post. Do you think Lis has moved on from twins or just moved around, tried different stuff, see what happens?  I think Kokua knows him. Maybe he will ask.

I like the curve on the rounded pin.mike

Steve Lis / Hanalei 2009

Howzit, Howzit...

Steve is a friend and lives here on Kaua'i. He just got back from San Diego and shaped a bunch of boards for the 3 weeks that he was there and getting some surf time in as well. Steve has been doing alot of quad fin work it seems. Folks here on Kaua'i that ride his boards have been using his quad set up and it seems to work just fine for fun waves at beach breaks or the "freight train" rides at Hanalei.

Aloha

tried to post a pic and it's too large of Stevie.

I'd love to see what he shapes for the more powerful waves on Kaui.  Fish/swallowtail designs of more like the rounded pin shown above?  Mike

Saw Steve in the grocery store..he just got out of the water. I'll have a lil sit down with him. Hanalei is having a lil bump right now.          a bump in July ???               ~S~
