Not my listing, but I sure thought of some of you guys here when I saw it:
Cool…
I live in Berkeley, HATE living on boats…done it…
But that’s a cool project for someone into working for a few months straight.
Every year, usually late summer, the Berkeley Marina auctions off boats that are abandoned unpaid over a year’s period. Sometimes, that includes really nice big boats, and lots of major rebuilds laying in the mud.
Slip fees now average around $375 for slightly smaller boats, so that could be a consideration. Also, drydock fees must be double that, so you gotta get it into the water ASAP.
I could do it, have done it, working for SailboatsSausalito, but gee, that’s just a lot of frickin work!
When I saw " There are 2 fairly large holes in her sides, but I have done most of the hard work of preparing her for cementing" I kinda started to worry. You see, for most of my adult life I have been a boat carpenter, commercial fisherman or seaman. And there are three words that give me the willies:
‘Ferro Cement Boat’
Be really sure you know what you’re in for before taking this one on.
doc…
I’m in Berkeley too. I see these free boats on Craigslist all the time.
