ll be driving up the CA coast on Friday through Sunday from San Diego

I’ll be driving from Carlsbad up to Malibu on Friday. Then, after a quick surf and lunch, I’ll be meandering up to San Simeon where I’ll camp for the night. The next morning I’ll book up to Santa Cruz and spend the day surfing there (Saturday), and then spend the night somewhere between Santa Cruz and San Francisco. Finally, on Sunday morning I’ll drive up to Bodega bay to meet (hopefully) Dale Webster (I heard he surfs quite a bit up in that area

Some of the silly and not so silly things I want to do along the way (although I am not counting on any of it) are:

Surf Malibu, Big Sur Rivermouth, Asilomar, Stockton Avenue, Steamer Lane, and anywhere I can find Dale up in the Bodega Bay area (probably Salmon Creek).

I plan to also: See Hearst Castle (briefly), see Avila Beach (where that lady was killed by a GWS last fall), collect shells in Big Sur, visit Mavericks and take pictures, check Fort Point on the rare chance that it’s breaking in the summer, see some redwoods, and that’s about it.

People I’d love to meet: Swaylocks people, Dale Webster, Lance Carson, Tom Curren, Dave Parmenter, Al Merrick, Jeff Clark, any of the Santa Cruz arialists, and Timothy O’Leary (if he came back from the dead), Robert August, and anyone else who might just happen to be where I am at any given point in time.

I’m either taking my 8,2 Jim Phillips mini-log or my 10,0 noserider by Craig Hollingsworth, both outstanding boards made by excellent shapers.

If anyone wants to go surf, let me know. I’m leaving here (Carlsbad) bright and early Friday morning. I’ll be at San Simeon that night around dark, the next morning at Big Sur, Saturday afternoon in Santa Cruz, Sunday morning/afternoon in Bodega Bay.
